In this episode Gina chats to Viv Arthur of Art Van Go, about how she came to be running such a successful and unique creative business.
I remember distinctly the first time I came across Art Van Go – a little campervan stuffed full of sketchbooks, pens, papers, paints, printing blocks, oil sticks, stencils, chiffon scarves…
Almost anything you could wish for, or were often asked to bring along to a course, you could find it at Art Van Go! When I was taking my City & Guilds courses at Missenden Abbey, Viv would turn up on either the Saturday or Sunday lunchtime and park in the car park, setting up with tables of sketchbooks and bits and pieces. Anything else you wanted Viv would rummage in the van and usually find it. It didn’t take long to work out that it was best to go early, to beat the crush!
It didn’t take long for the business to become a regular feature at the big textile shows, an essential part of any trip – it was usually worth going along, just for the shopping!
