Unfortunately Gina has come down with shingles! As she’s not feeling so good, we thought we’d do something different and rope in a guest presenter – namely, my husband Nick Moore, an author, poet and professional copywriter – to have a chat about writing.
As artists we communicate through the art – but we do occasionally need to string words and sentences together to communicate about our art, in our newsletters, blogs, and social media posts. Nick and I talk about how we should approach our writing, and Nick gives some useful tips on making our written communication more effective.
Mentioned in this episode:
No More Can Fit into the Evening
Jane Davies mini collage course
The oldest basket in the world
The music is Dear Autumn by Ikson and you can find it at https://soundcloud.com/ikson
As always, we’d love to know your thoughts on any of the things we’ve talked about. In this instance, as it was a bit of a different episode, it would be really useful to know if you’d like Nick to come back another time to talk about an aspect of writing in more detail.
As he mentioned, he does a lot of consultancy work for companies, big and small, wanting to develop their “brand” – which is more than just a pretty colour scheme and always using a particular font! As artists, we don’t think of ourselves as a “brand” – and it might even feel distasteful or inappropriate to consider ourselves as such – but starting to thinking about ourselves that way can be a useful exercise in helping us find our own voice, something I reckon every artist strives for. Let us know what you think and if you want to know more!
